Our company is looking for 2 responsible team players to assist our trades persons by carrying on different duties. The candidates should be aware that they will be part of a mobile crew working on different locations across Central Alberta.
Main duties include:
• Load and unload construction materials, move material around within a construction site
• Spot operations of heavy equipment
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding, trenches, ramps, catwalks, shoring and barricades as required
• Operation of mobile equipment if qualified
• Mix, pour and spread different materials, such as concrete or asphalt
• Assist tradespersons such as mechanics, welders and other specialists within the construction site
• Assist heavy equipment operators by signalling and guide them while moving equipment
• Assist in aligning pipes
• Assist in excavating, in manual preparation of trenches, and in setting up and operating various drills
• Level and compact the soil ground using rake, shovel and mechanical compactors
• Assist in site cleanup regularly
• Assist in demolishing other constructions using prying bars and sort, clean and pile salvaged materials
• Remove rubble and other debris using rakes, shovels and wheelbarrows
• Operate pneumatic hammers as directed
• Provide maintenance to equipment such as mixers, compressors and pumps
• Clean up spills of chemicals or other contaminants, remove asbestos and other hazardous materials
• Direct traffic at or near construction sites, placement of equipment and barriers
• Perform other activities at construction sites, as directed
• Attendance to safety meetings
• Report any hazards, incidents or near-misses to the supervisor
• Take all mandatory safety courses as instructed by the supervisor
Required qualifications:
• 1-7 months of experience at construction sites
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Physical strength
• Must have personal protection equipment such as a hard hat, safety glasses, reflective vest, gloves and steel-toed boots.
• Health & Safety basic training or certification at any level would be significant for our company
• Ideal candidate must have great communication skills in general, but overall be a good listener
• Ideal candidate should also be attentive to detail, punctual and responsible
• Ideal candidate should not possess any medical conditions nor have been involved in drug addictions; a recent drug test clearance must be provided
• A criminal record, driver’s license and driving abstract are required
• Reference letters will be required
• Candidate shall possess emotional strength to refuse performing any task deemed unsafe
