The company focuses on sustainably sourcing cow hides from government-approved slaughterhouses that would otherwise be discarded or sent to landfills. These cow hides are carefully processed using refined West African techniques to produce culturally valued food product for African and Caribbean communities in Canada. In addition, Ebeano Specialty Foods promotes sustainable food systems through responsible processing methods and modern food production practices aimed at supplying high-quality specialty food products that are not widely available in the Canada market. We are currently in need of a Senior Production Officer, who is able to perform the following job duties within the context of our production: - Supervise, coordinate and schedule the activities of the workers who process, package, test and grade our products - Oversee the slaughtering and processing of livestock - Be directly involved in the production of Ponmo, Shaki (tripe) and other livestock offal, using the company's heritage technique - Ensure the safety and hygienic handling and storage of meat products - Oversee and ensure the use of modern food processing machines to up-cycle livestock offal into food ingredients for African and Caribbean stores - Be directly involved in the up-cycling of agricultural waste into organic and sustainable feed for livestock - Oversee and ensure the proper collection of livestock offal from government-approved slaughterhouses - Organize and coordinate farm visits - Establish methods to meet work schedules - Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality - Requisition materials and supplies - Train staff in job duties, safety procedures and company policy - Recommend personnel actions such as hirings and promotions - Prepare production and other reports This is a full-time position for at least 3 years and at least 30 hours per week (2 vacancies) Wage: $27-$30 per hour, depending on experience Benefits: not applicable Location of work: 102- 3446 19th Avenue, Smithers BC, V03 2N0 Contact information: Stanhope Nwachukwu at stanhopenwachukwu@gmail.com Skills/education requirements: - completion of secondary school is required - several years of experience in the food or beverage processing industry are required - good English language skills, a resumé and references are required - a flexible attitude towards working hours, including Saturday, Sunday and evenings/nights, is expected.
