Business Address: 1324 Gerrard St E, Toronto, ON M4L 1Z1 Title of the Position: Ceramic Studio Technician/Teacher Number of Positions Available: 1 Job Duties: - Provide clear, comprehensive instruction in various ceramic techniques, including wheel throwing, hand-building, glazing, and firing. - Demonstrate proper use and maintenance of pottery tools and equipment. - Develop and plan curriculum for classes and workshops, ensuring content is suitable for varying skill levels. - Prepare materials and workspaces for classes, including clay, glazes, and tools. - Offer individualized guidance and feedback to students to help them improve their skills. - Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages creativity and experimentation. - Ensure the studio is kept clean and organized, including regular cleaning of wheels, kilns, and other equipment. - Monitor inventory of supplies and materials, and notify management when reordering is necessary. - Enforce studio safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries. - Educate students on safe handling of materials and equipment. - Maintain accurate records of student attendance and progress. - Assist with registration and scheduling of classes and workshops. - Participate in studio events, exhibitions, and community outreach programs. - Promote studio classes and workshops through social media and other marketing channels. - Stay updated on new techniques, trends, and best practices in ceramics. - Attend relevant workshops, conferences, and training sessions to enhance teaching skills. - Work collaboratively with other instructors and studio staff to ensure a cohesive program offering. - Provide feedback and suggestions to improve studio operations and educational offerings. - Address inquiries and concerns from students and potential clients in a professional and timely manner. - Assist with retail sales of pottery and studio merchandise if applicable.
