Responsibilities Tasks • Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions • Professionalism in customer service • Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy • Load and unload goods • Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes • Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials • Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment • Perform brake adjustments • Perform emergency roadside repairs • Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle • Receive and relay information to central dispatch • Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption • Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo Credentials Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses • AZ class license • Air Brake (Z) Endorsement • Driver's License (Class 1 or A) Experience and specialization Documentation knowledge • Accident or incident reports • Bill of lading • Dangerous goods occurrence reports • Driver logbook • Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip) • Maintenance and repair reports • Trans-border documentation • Trip reports Transportation/travel experience • International • Long-haul • Provincial/territorial Additional information Security and safety • Basic security clearance • Driving record check (abstract) Work conditions and physical capabilities • Attention to detail • Physically demanding • Sitting Personal suitability • Efficient interpersonal skills • Organized • Reliability • Team player • Hardworking • Patience Benefits Other benefits • Free parking available • Other benefits Who can apply for this job?
